The Chemex kettle brings revolutionary induction water heating, where the kettle itself has no heating coil or wires and connections, so it can be submerged under water and washed. The manufacturer even states that it is dishwasher safe. The induction heating technique transfers electrical energy by induction from a coil of wire located in the base to the kettle. Placing the kettle on the base creates induced electrical currents in the metal base, heating the kettle and its contents.

The base houses the electrical components that control power management, temperature measurement and accuracy. These components must be kept cool in order to function properly. At Chemex, they have sourced a high quality fan with good airflow capacity. Testing has ensured that the noise level is comparable to other electric kettles on the market (56 db).
