When choosing a frenchpress coffee pot, the most important thing is to know how big a pot you actually need. You should use 60g of coarsely ground coffee per 1l of water.

One standard cup thus comes out to an average of 130 ml. A french press with a volume of 350 ml is therefore absolutely ideal for 2 people. But if you prefer larger cups or mugs, choose french presses with volumes of 600ml or 1000ml, which you can also use beautifully when preparing coffee for a visit .

What is a french press?

The French press is a very simple way to prepare quality coffee without grounds at home or on the go . That is why the French press has become an indispensable helper in the kitchens of many coffee lovers around the world.

Anyone can make coffee in a French press after a short training session, we have described the entire process in this guide . That's why we recommend it to everyone who wants to start with coffee and leave the "Czech Turk" :-)

The main advantages of the French press

If we leave aside the easy preparation of coffee, the purchase of a French press entails several other advantages :

The coffee is ready in just a few minutes
Low price
Alternative use in tea preparation
Simplicity and really suitable for anyone, older generations, etc.

French press selection guide

Let's take a look at how to choose the right French press . It might seem that for such a simple device, there will not be such a difference between individual models difference, but it's not like that. That is why it is worth watching the following parameters when choosing:

Kettle size

It can be said that French press kettles will come in one of three sizes. Depending on how many cups of coffee we usually make, we can choose the most suitable one.

French press up to 350 ml – this size is suitable for preparing one to two cups of coffee.
French press up to 500 ml - the most suitable volume for preparing up to four cups.
French press up to 1 l - with this volume you can prepare up to 7 cups of coffee.

From plastic to stainless steel

Each French press usually consists of several materials, but basically we distinguish three main types . The predominant material is either glass, plastic or stainless steel. Plastic French presses are usually cheaper, while glass and stainless steel ones will often be supplemented with design elements and are characterized by a much longer lifespan. Thanks to this, their price will also be higher.
