List of products by brand Nespresso®
The history of Nespresso capsules predates the story of Swiss inventor Éric Favre, who, after studying to be an aerodynamics engineer, began working for the Nestlé brand. His Italian wife, Anna-Marie, liked to criticise the lack of taste in the coffee the Swiss consumed. To show his wife what he was made of, he decided to find a way of making coffee most similar to the Italian one. They also moved to Rome for a time, and toured many Italian espresso bars. After some time, he created his first machine and presented it to employer Nestlé in 1975. They weren't keen on the idea. It wasn't until 10 years later that the first capsules were produced. Nestlé feared failure, so they started producing the capsules under the Nespresso brand, initially in hotels, bars and offices. The desired success was not forthcoming. Everything changed with a change in sales strategy as a luxury part of the home. The capsules slowly began to spread around the world. Nespresso gained popularity especially in the 1990s. Gradually other companies started to appear on the market. Nespresso® is a trademark of Société des Produits Nestlé, S.A.
