This season should be one of the breakthroughs for Ethiopian coffee - or at least a great promise for the future. It has succeeded in removing the obligation to trade through the ECX commodity exchange, which increases the transparency of coffees and the possibilities for independent behaviour by cooperatives and their associations. Nordbeans are happy to be there. Their first freshly harvested coffee is from the Jimma region, bought through the Kata Mudaga union. It was processed by the Yukro cooperative, which operates near the famous coffee town of Agaro. The coffee trees here grow at really high altitudes of up to 2200 metres above sea level and are mostly processed using the washed method. This is also the case here. The Yukro impressed with its smoothness and a great combination of floral notes and fruity juiciness. They roast it mainly on a filter.
