In the Nyamasheke area there is a new Gitwe washing station which provides perfect conditions for coffee growing. Thanks to the soil and climate in the area, the coffee grown here is of excellent quality. The vast majority of the coffee is grown by smallholders who are grouped in organised cooperatives and share the services of the processing stations.
The acidity of the coffee means that it is best enjoyed as a cold brew on these hot days.
